Pixie Cottage Challenge!

Welcome to the first Pixie Cottage Challenge of 2010! This week our very own Pixie Renata created a sketch for us to use. I loved this sketch and have used something like it in the past. It looks so detailed and yet is so easy to create. I really hope you will play along with us this week.
For todays Wish upon a Wednesday challenge I used the gorgeous Alisa Ramirez Image "Ballerina Fairy Taking a Ride". I just love the caterpillar, his cute chubbiness makes me giggle.
I painted my image with distress inks and popped the fairys head for added dimension. Her wings are covered in diamond Stickles for lots of sparkle!
The DP is K&Company and the Cardstock is Bazzil swiss dots.

I hope you feel inspired! I can't wait to see what you create this week.

Skipping Stones Design Sketch Challenge 7

Here we are again...it's Tuesday! Skipping Stones Designs has a wonderful sketch for us this week. The sketch is from the creative genius of Amy Sheffer at Pickled Paper Designs. I love this sketch, it is simple, elegant and full of possibilities :)
For todays sketch I chose the "Healing Wings" set from Skipping Stones designs. I just love this set because it is so versatile. The set includes sentiments, two full butterflies and one side view.
For this card I used the side view. I adore the sentiment "Friends give color to our lives". It is very true and gave me inspiration for the card.
I used very muted background papers and cream rayon thread in the stitching. The only color on the card is the butterfly. I used Tim Holtz distress inks in Broken China, Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint to add life to the butterfly. I love the way it pops from the page just like your favorite friend!
Please come visit us at Skipping Stones Design and enter the challenge! I can't wait to see what you make!

DZ Doodles First new release of 2010!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year holiday!

To help kick off 2010 Diane, over at DZ Doodles, has some fabulous new drawings for you to try. Not only are there many new images to choose from, they are ALL ON SALE! It really doesn't get better than that my friends!
I just love this heart and flowers image. I thought it would be perfect for my honey on Valentines day. I printed the image twice and colored one of the images flowers and leaves with my Prismacolor Pencils and OMS. I then cut out the flowers, used Flower Soft for the centers and Crystal effects for shine.
I cut out the heart on the second image and sponged it with distress inks. I then covered the heart with versamark and heat embossed with a glittered clear embossing powder.

I stamped the "LOVE" sentiment, layered the heart over the top then popped up the flowers with dimensionals.
A few rounds with my sewing machine and voila!

For this card, I painted the image with Stampin' Up! reinkers and an aquapainter, then popped up one of the glasses for added dimension. Stickles add the sparkle and Crystal Effects add the glassy shine. I used a Fiskars border punch, spellbinders circle, scalloped circle and some grossgrain ribbon to complete the card.
